Since Hotel Bel-Air opened its doors in 1946, we have been guided by a set of core values around conducting business in an ethical and socially responsible manner. Acting responsibly – on behalf of our community and towards the natural environment - is an integral part of the excellence we seek to provide every day at Hotel Bel-Air.
At Hotel Bel-Air our team took the lead by raising awareness and driving action within the hotel during the two year refurbishment project. The team coordinates initiatives in relation to the local community, protecting the environment, working with our suppliers and contractors, and ensuring that we conduct our business in ways consistent with the Dorchester Collection’s high standards of professionalism and good conduct.
Specific areas of environmental interest for the refurbishment program include our dedication to the reduction of water consumption. We have initiated state-of-the-art practices such as the storage and subsequent use of greywater for landscaping, recycling water in Swan Lake and using indoor conservation technologies such as low-flow toilets and fixtures in every refurbished guest room. Additionally, we have upgraded our infrastructure and technologies hotelwide including a new more efficient central plant to lower our energy use throughout the hotel.
