It’s been nearly two months since we closed our doors to embark on our refurbishment project. With an anticipated reopening date of mid-2011, our goal is to make sure it stays the same peaceful magical oasis it has always been while responding to the changing needs of our guests. We are all very excited about what’s to come at the Bel-Air and we are certain you will too.
We would like to share some of the recent news regarding the project:
- At the beginning of December, the hotel took part in a public school beautification day where we donated many of the potted plants located on the grounds (large and small) to elementary and middle schools in the Van Nuys area. Additionally, refurbished computers with flat screen monitors, color and black and white printers, filing cabinets and office equipment were also donated to local public schools.
- Prior to closure, Hotel Bel-Air donated terry, linen and bathroom amenities to a number of homeless shelters. Alexandra Champalimaud has been named interior designer for the guestrooms, public spaces and restrooms.
- The refurbishment team for the bar and restaurant, acclaimed architectural firm The Rockwell Group, was selected by Academy Awards producers to design the sets for the next Oscar telecast, for a second year in a row. The team also designed the famed Kodak Theater as well as restaurants for a number of world renowned chefs including Nobu, Alain Ducasse, and Jean George Vongeritchen to name a few.
Over the next few months we will be sharing even more new information about what’s going on behind the green fences including photos, renderings, and technology updates. From all of us at Hotel Bel-Air we wish you a fabulous 2010!
